|If you are staying at a Disney-owned resort, you are eligible for the free Disney's Magical Express bus shuttle service from Orlando International Airport (MCO). The shuttle allows resort guests to bypass airport baggage claim; your bags will be sent directly to your hotel room. It takes about 35 minutes to get from the airport to your hotel if traffic is favorable.
Resort hotels not available for Magical Express are Walt Disney World® Swan and Dolphin, Shades of Green, Hilton in the Walt Disney Resort, and Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress.
Disney will provide you with the required Magical Express luggage tags (upon your request) before you leave home. Just attach the luggage tags to your bags, check them at your home airport, and you won't need to handle your bags again. When you arrive at the Orlando Airport, you can go straight to the Magical Express bus. Disney will collect your bags and deliver them to your room.
Note: If you are arriving from outside the United States in Orlando, you will have to claim your baggage and clear customs; then go to the main terminal building and leave your bags with the Disney Magical Express agent, who will see that your bags arrive at your hotel room. If you have already cleared customs in another U.S. city, Disney will automatically reclaim your luggage; just proceed to the main terminal to board the Magical Express shuttle.
Be sure to pack a carry-on bag with items to use when you arrive; bags usually will arrive at your room in two-three hours, but if there are delays you may be without your luggage for several hours.
You do not have to use the baggage service when you are riding the Magical Express. If you prefer, pick up your own bags (don't put the ME tags on your luggage!) and carry them to the shuttle.
The bus has comfortable Seats:, air conditioning, and an interesting informational movie to watch on your trip to the resort, which will take about half an hour. Your friendly bus driver will add his own touch of Disney greetings.
On your return home -- if you are flying on one of these airlines -- American, United and Ted, Continental, JetBlue, Delta and Song, Northwest, Alaska Airlines, AirTran, U..S. Airways -- the procedure is: Check your bags at your Resort's Airline Check-in Desk. They will check your baggage through to your home airport and even provide you with boarding passes and seat assignments. You will not have to handle your luggage again until you pick your bags up at your home airport.
Note: You can use the Resort Airline Check-in service for the participating airlines listed above even if you are not riding the Magical Express. If you are flying on any other carrier, on your return trip home you must reclaim your bags at the airport and check them in with your airline.
The trip from the airport by taxi or private shuttle is expensive, so the Magical Express is indeed a good deal if you are staying at a qualifying resort. Recognize there may be delays when you are using the Magical Express bus service. This service was originally planned to operate through summer of 2006, but has now been extended to run through 2011.
